The Nuclear-Free Local Authorities organisation is a pointless, tokenistic anachronism based on outdated political dogma and funded (mainly unwittingly) by the taxpayer by way of affiliation fees paid by local Councils across the country.

It is a waste of Council taxpayers' money that provides no useful service and it should be abolished.

How the idea could be implemented

In the first instance, increased transparency of local authority spending would allow local residents to see that their local authority may be wasting money on political campaigning such as NFLA. Authorities could be "named and shamed" for wasting money on political dogma rather than on front-line services.

As a last resort, it may be possible to reduce grant or formula funding on a pro-rata basis. Every little helps.
